Contact Me

If you’re contacting me with general questions or comments, I should warn you that I’m having a hard time responding to all of my email lately. Scroll down for other ways to ask nutrition questions.

If you’re looking to hire me for private nutrition counseling, but have questions or concerns, please contact me at michelle at fatnutritionist dot com. Ditto for media inquiries.

If you’re in need of nutritional assistance and don’t want to hire my pansy-ass, please contact a Registered Dietitian in one of the following ways:

In Ontario, call 1-877-510-5102 to ask a question for free.

If you live in a country with universal health care, or if you have a health insurance plan, you can usually get a referral to a RD from your family doctor, and it will either be free or require only a typical copay. Ask your doctor how it works in your area, or contact your insurance company.

You can hire a dietitian in private practice for counseling by searching Dietitians of Canada, the American Dietetic Association, the British Dietetic Association (their search page is called “Dietitians Unlimited”), the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute, the Association for Dietetics in South Africa, the Dietitians Association of Australia, the New Zealand Dietetic Association, and for just about any country — simply do a Google search for “dietitians [your country]” and then, on the website that results, find a link that usually says “Find a Dietitian.”

As always, if you’re looking for advice that will be Health at Every Size-friendly, I recommend seeing a dietitian who is trained in eating disorders. Even if you don’t have an eating disorder, dietitians who are trained this way are more likely to be familiar with HAES principles.

Ideally, I’d recommend finding someone trained in Ellyn Satter’s method (called “Treating the Dieting Casualty” or “How to Eat.”)

If your child is having an eating problem, please contact Ellyn Satter Associates by phone (800-808-7976) or email (info@ellynsatter.com) to get a referral for a dietitian trained in parent-child feeding dynamics. Or talk to Katja! She’s a doctor and I know her and she’s just lovely.

You can also search for Fat Friendly Health Professionals, Health at Every Size Experts, and other professionals in the Health at Every Size Community.

Lastly, you can go here to Ask a Dietitian, but I can’t vouch for whether the advice will be size-friendly.
