Title: [Black type on a pale pink background] The Fat Nutritionist tells you a story (while eating raspberries.) [Title screen fades to a video of a fat, white woman with dark hair eating raspberries from a turquoise teacup, with a spoon. Instrumental music plays. Text captions tell the story while she eats.] Once upon a time, I went on a "successful" diet. I lost 30 pounds, but I gained pneumonia, shin splints, and disordered eating. Then I discovered Health At Every Size which promotes joyful eating and exercise. [Puts spoon down, still holding teacup, and wiggles fingers. Begins eating berries with fingers.] self-acceptance, and social equality, instead of weight loss. I realized I could pursue health without hating myself [Looks up in the air, smiling, and eats another berry.] ...or anyone else. I wanted to do something positive for fat people, So I decided to become a radical dietitian. [Begins putting raspberries on fingertips, one at a time.] I moved to Toronto, went to school for nutrition, and worked in hospitals as a diet tech. With the help of a size-friendly dietitian, I learned to eat normally again. [Begins eating raspberries off fingertips, one at a time.] I got trained in eating competence, wrote a blog called The Fat Nutritionist, and started my own business. [Eats last raspberry off pinkie finger.] I've helped many people learn to eat normally again and though I love dietitians, some clients are afraid of them. When I first graduated, I was afraid to apply for a dietetic internship. I couldn't afford one. In February 2014, I applied anyway. As I waited, I received an email. [Words scroll onto screen from bottom.] "you're disgusting and should be ashamed of yourself... I hope you know how hard some of us work out there to keep our bodies healthy ...while you sit back and eat cream eggs on your fat ass." It led me to a website where people said Fat nutritionists were incompetent, my degree was probably fake, and that I was too lazy to become a dietitian. [Opens mouth to reveal a stained, red tongue, then smiles and goes back to eating.] Two days later, I was accepted to a dietetic internship. Now I need your help to become the radical dietitian I originally set out to be. I want to promote respect for people of all sizes, and I want to be a dietitian no one is afraid of. [Licks fingers, looks at camera, sighs and smiles. Fade to black.] The End.
